wellllll here's my two cents.

you didnt say how old your niece is but for her to CHOOSE Cancun over any place in the world she could visit says she is YOUNG and looking for the party atmosphere of Spring Break! Senior Frogs!

Tulum and PlayaCar are nice...the ruins at Chinchinitza... and Merida is a beautiful, clean and very safe town..

but they unfortunately will not interest a young lady that has CHOSEN Cancun over any place in the world to go! Please ya'll that write keep that in mind! It is HER and choice.

It like saying what gift do you want and she says a bike.. so you give it to her and then take it away. don’t take away her dream of experiencing Cancun,

and since you are going free as a chaperone it wouldn’t be appropriate for you to leave her to go to these places and leave her in Cancun.

So my suggestion is to either suck it up as the great aunt and go for her and be there for her as her loving “chaperone” aunt.. or don’t go because it is “free” and you are missing a European tour.

I saw mention of August and heat.. it is the tropics and there is always a chance of rain but August is the rainy season.

I do have a friend that lives there. He has owned hotels in Cancun and now owns a travel agency. If there is a way for you to contact me on here (I am new and don’t know the rules) I could give you he email and phone number.
I am sure Carlos would be happy to tell you some places you can go there in Cancun that might interest you “a little”.
