Yucatan: Culture and Rest needed..need a paln.
Well we have 8 nights in the Yucatan, we want the accomodations to be as nice as possible. We also need a good rest while enjoying the culture of the Yucatan. We speek enough spanish and will rent a car.
I can't decide between the HSJ or the HSR, or should I do both? I know the HSR is far but the HSJ looks far too. we also need accomodations in Merida. Do you have any suggestions? I was thinking: March 11-14 (3nts)- HSJ March 14-16 (2nts)- HSR March 16-19 (3nts)- Merida Luz or Medio Mundo, El Balan, Ideas.. We want to see: Valladolid, CI, El Balam, Uxmal, Izamal and the Puuc trail... Would I be able to stay in the above accom. and see all of these places? Plesse feel free to give me youur thoughts. Thanks, |

Ok, I'll take a stab at this. It would be fairly easy to see Valladolid, Ek Balam and Chichen Itza in two days. I don't know what HSR or HSJ are. I'm going to Ek Balam myself on the 28th of March. It's north of Valladolid with CI to the west and Coba to the east. Not sure of the rest of it.

Sorry if I was not clear,
Hacienda San Jose and Hacienda Santa Rosa..I need to make a choice and I am really haaving a problem. People seem to love Santa Rosa but always stress that it is so far..In Merida I think we are going to stay at |
For Merida, I'd suggest staying at Cascadas de Merida = a lovely bed and breakfast that is about a 10 minute walk from the center of town. It's a gorgous property, friendly and knowlegable hosts, and a great morning meal. While there we visited a working hacienda - picked up and returned to the door - it was a good experience with a swim in a cenote at the end of it. Check out their web site.

There's a good Merida forum called Merida Insider at www.meridainsider.com with a lot of good folks who might be able to help you out. Very big and active forum.

In Izamal I would highly recommend Macan Che. It is absolutely lovely and very well maintained. The perfect spot for relaxation. They occassionally have yoga retreats and with 24 hours notice you can have a massage.
