yellowfever shots
as a Canadian, do I need a yellowfever shot while cruising around South America? especially taking a shore excursion between Iguazu Falls and Buenos Aires (travelling by air) and while on Panama Canal shore excusions? I've been told I need the shot while taking a tour in Manta, Ecuador.

I am in the same boat. I will be traveling to Venezuela (Caracas to Barquisimeto only) and needed some info about the yellow fever shot. Thanks!

I don't know a thing about the geography of Venezuela. But, I did read that there were at least two documented cases of yellow fever in Venezuela last month. Here's a quote from CDC: Risk for yellow fever infection is present in most of Venezuela except along northern coastal areas and the cities of Caracas, Valencia and Margarita.
So, if it was me, and I was in an endemic area, I'd get vaccinated. We got the vaccine last year before a trip to southern Panama. Less than $100.00, and good for ten years. There can be some side effects, but we didn't have any problems at all. |

There have been reported cases of fatal vaccine reactions in folks over 60 and those with "thymus abnormalities". M |
Thank you for your help!
