Yay, Thorntree's back, (sorta)

Back, mostly in name only, but its a start. Mexico forum needs some current postings, hopefully more posts from independent travelers, visiting the off beat places, rather than the resort seekers. Apparently, no longer an affiliate of Lonely Planet.

Thanks P2.

Thanks for that. Looks very interesting. I have just joined!

I don't go to "off beat places" but neither am I a "resort seeker'. I am an independent solo female who likes old town Puerto Vallarta. Would that be ok?

Hardly seems worth joining a forum if you are only interested in one place.

OK, I won't then. That said, on the old Thorn Three I was only on the Mexican forum. I don't need the information but because I know PV so well I can help people who ask about it.

Their forum page mentions this:
"Do you have a lot of experience traveling to any particular city/country/region?

We would like to hear from you to be a designated travel expert for that destination!

Is this a paid position? Unfortunately, it is not"
Maybe you can join and become an expert.
However, their Facebook page has this caveat:
"
Welcome to Thorntree Travel Forum, the ultimate online community for travelers, backpackers, and adventure seekers! "

Yes I qualify for all those. I don't want to be an "expert". There is only pain and no glory in that position on an internet travel forum.

Then also I use a small suitcase with wheels not a backpack. Maybe that disqualified me as an adventurer as well?

This is a Facebook page? Do you need to be on FB to participate?

If you look at the link in Pelon's post, you'll note that it's not a link to Facebook, but rather a web page. But they do have a Facebook presence.

A couple of posts were deleted and one was edited. Please continue discussing the revival of ThornTree, but refrain from personal challenges and tit for tat comments. Otherwise the thread will be closed.

Only saying if this is the Welcome Committee for a brand new or reinvented forum, y'all might want to work on your shtick!
