Yandup Island Lodge with a 4 year old?
Wondering what anyone's thoughts are on taking a young child to the Yandup Island Lodge. Is there enough for us to do with him that's safe? How is the swimming? Any info. you may have would be greatly appreciated. We're thinking of going in February.
Thanks! |

Thanks so much for your input. It looks like the Gamboa resort is already booked for the time of year we will be there- is that possible? We were hoping to combine our trip with a more mainstream resort and then someplace a little more interesting for a few days- may still consider Yandup, although I didn't realize there was a concern about water there, only mosquitos. Is that for all of Panama or just this place in particular? Thanks again!

I had the same worries with water and mosquitoes over there when I went with my toddler (15 months at the time). So before choosing I asked the hotel and I proved it later.
She's very active so we're usually careful. She loved it, we took her to the village tour and there were a zillion kids, needless to say, she didn't want to leave. They even offered to make special meals for her if she didn't like seafood (wich we didn't need). They give bottled water at all times and they also cook with bottled water. In Panama city water is fine. I didn't find any mosquitoes at all, what I found was some little bugs I don't recall the real name (something like chitres), annoying but harmless. What I did know beforehand is that there is no malaria whatsoever in Panama and as far as I'm concerned there's no leishmaniasis in San Blas |
Thanks Wakape- We decided to go to Costa Rica and head over to Bocas Del Toro instead, as the traveling seems a little easier with our son. We're definitely keeping Yandup Island in our plans for the future. I appreciate your input!
