Which resort on the Mayan Riviera for snorkeling with teenagers?

We want to take our teenage grandchildren to the Mayan Riviera in July. We went to the Virgin Islands last summer, and they fell in love with snorkeling. Which resort has the best reef? What about accommodations? We'll need two bedrooms -- maybe adjoining rooms. Is it worthwhile to go to an all-inclusive with teenagers? Lots of questions, I know. There are so many choices, and I need help from people who have been there. Thanks in advance.

Xpu-Ha is great for family. It is an all inclusive resort in an ecological park. Nice inlet for snorkeling. The rooms are bungalo style. Lots of activities for the young and old.

I meant to type "Xpu-Ha Palace". It is one of the Palace resorts.

The barcelo maya, which is just north of xpu ha is also a very nice family resort with good snorkelling. They have an excellent beach and on the north end, there's a pier with decent snorkelling. If you bring bread, the fish will surround you. The resort is loving and a nice atmosphere for children and adults. If you do a text search on 'barcelo maya' you'll find my recent post with details regarding the resort. My 11 and 14 yr old loved it.

Excuse my typo, the resort is 'lovely' (not loving).

I would recommend the Akumal Beach Resort. The bay is shallow with a reef about 300 feet out, so the water is calm. We saw sea turtles to the north where the boats are moored, rays, a barracuda and lots of fish. Also just about 1 mile (we walked to the north of the akumal beach resort is Yalku lagoon - 5.00 per person, a great grotto to snorkel in) the Akumal Beach resort is very laid back, a gorgeous beach too.
