Which Cancun Hotel has good snorkeling and clear water right in front of hotel?

Are there any hotels or all inclusives in Cancun that have beautiful clear, calm water and good snorkeling right on the beach in front of the hotel? I would prefer not to have to go on one of those half day or all day "snorkeling trips". Also, any recommendations on deciding between an all inclusive vs regular hotel in Cancun? Thanks.

I found that the best snorkelling was on the lagoon side of the hotel zone. There was a lot of seaweed because the water was calmer, but there were a lot of fish.

If I were visiting Cancun I would stay at a regular hotel and not an all inclusive. There is so much to see and do that I would hate to be tied down to a hotel for my meals. There are also some great restaurants in Cancun that you should try out.

Kojak is right: don't stay at an inclusive in Cancun; there are a zillion restaurants in the hotel zone and in the old part (just be careful about what part of the old part you go to!).
have you considered going furthur south to the playa or Akumal area? Good snorkeling right in front of The club Robinson- all inclusive very nice and off the beaten track.

I have to agree with the consensus. I have been down many times and prefer not to go AI. There are alot of great restaurants to go to. You might want to be out and about more than at the hotel. Check out these 2 sites, they have some great information.

http://cancunmx.com
http://cancun.com
If you have any questions feel free to email me. SJ
