Which Apple Vacation Tours???

We are taking an Apple Vacation to playa del carmen in june. i would like to know which tours are worth taking and which ones arent? Mayan Adventure, Coba and Mayan village, tulum and Xel-ha, chichen itza and jungle crossing? if anyone has taken any of these tours please let me know how they were!!

Chichen Itza is amazing if you are into ruins. It is nice having a guide there to explain the Mayan culture. In my opinion, its by far the best Mayan site reachable from Cancun or PDC. Coba is not nearly as well excavated and there is not as much detail left on the buildings and is much smaller.

Tulum is not nearly as impressive as Chichen Itza but it is closer to PDC and has a beautiful setting overlooking the water.

I believe there are buses that run through PDC that can take you to Tulum and Xelha and also to Cancun. I imagine that the Apple tours to Xelha will more or less provide transportation to Xelha and then leave you alone for the day so it might be a bit cheaper to do it by public bus. I believe the admission to Xelha is $25, $19 on the weekend so whatever the amount is over that is transport.

The first time we traveled with Apple we stuck with their tours which were all fine but in subsequent trips we have rented cars and gotten around using public transport which we enjoy much more, not on anyone else's schedule and we don't spend time picking up other people and dropping them off. Mexico is pretty easy to get around in on your own.

Thank you so much for the information!! we are going to do the chichen itza and tulum and we are also considering taking transportation, the idea of being on a time schedule is not appealing!! thank you!!

Candi, one more thought that I saw on another post. Chichen Itza is located far away from the water so it will be hot in June. We did the trip in Feb/Mar and it was hot even then. If you go, be sure to bring plenty of water, sunscreen and a hat as there is not a lot of shade.

Candi,

I loved Xel-Ha...you have to go!!! The snorkeling in their lagoon is amazing and it is very sheltered, so it is great for beginers. It was my favorite part of the entire vacation. I had such a blast! Chichen Itza was great, but it was too hot for my tastes, I was there in the summer too. Xcaret was alot of fun as well, don't miss the show.
Brandi
