Where to stay in San Jose

We are flying into San Jose and do not leave till the following morning at 6am to go to Osa Peninsula. Need a place to stay that is convenient to the airport, but would also like to have a nice dinner of ir there is anything to see in San Jose, that would be nice as well.

Any suggestions?

Are you flying Sansa or Nature Air?

Why not just stay at the airport Hampton (nice enough, just bland of course) so you'll be by the airport for your SUPER early flight (that is if you're flying Sansa) and take a cab into town and back the night before for a nice dinner (or a cab in earlier for more time in town if you're arriving earlier in the day). We've done that before and seemed to work well.

Consider Hotel Buena Vista. A nice place to eat is nearby.

Also consider Hotel Britannia and a fabulous meal at Bakea

Hello, there are a lot of good accommodations in San Jose. See the locations on the map. http://www.costaricaweb.de/crweb/en/...e-hotel-en.htm

The two airlines that fly to Osa depart for two different airports in the San Jose area, so it really is important that you tell us which airline you'll be using if you want us to recommend a hotel nearby. I would definitely suggest that, rather than choosing a hotel in San Jose proper and then battling the traffic (in a taxi) back out of the city to get to the airport for a very early flight.

Hi,
If you are flying with Nature Air in Pavas it is very near the city of San Jose. Hotel Grano de Oro is a lovely place with a famous restaurant.

Less expensive and more downtown might be Hotel Don Carlos. This is one of my favorites. Some people want to see the city.

I like to use Hotel Le Bergerac. It is an old french Inn and has another famous restaurant.

IF you are flying by way of Sansa. Sansa leaves from the main airport. Here, you can stay in the city of Alajuela. Some suggest Hampton Inn which is nearby. Nice concrete block hotel very close to airport with great chicken restaurant and Denny's nearby!

Or, perhaps La Rosa de America or Orquideas Inn. Both have lovely gardens, nice pools and tropical birds. La Rosa is located in the heart of the Tico restaurants called La Garita.

Martino Resort is a lovely place across from one of the Costa Rica zoo's ZooAve.

There are some ideas for you.

The distance from both airports is about 50 minutes in good traffic. It is important to stay near the one you are leaving from because traffic here can be horrible. ESPECIALLY early morning.

We stayed at Xandari in Alejuela. Beautiful!! Lovely restaurant overlooking the city. They will get you transfers to either airport and store luggage if needed. Terrific hotel.
