Where to go in Costa Rica??
We have been to CR a few times - Manuel Antonio, Arenal, Monteverde, Jaco.....looking at checking out a new area - perhaps a little less touristy with the family - boys 14 and 11. Our boys have only been once to the Arenal area - and they didnt get to see much wildlife - so this location should be rich in fauna. Any ideas?? Prefer to fly into SJO.

The Osa Peninsula is amazing. We stayed at Bosque del Cabo and loved it. We saw all 4 kinds of monkeys, an anteater, sloths, agoutis, scarlet macaws, toucans and more when we were there. Lots of good hiking on the extensive grounds. We saw a lot of fauna from the front porch of our cabin. Selva Verde in the Sarapiqui has some nice wildlife too, although not as prevalent for us as at BdC.

I agree with Volcano Girl: Osa is fabulous!
Look for Ojochal, a small village but very very cute. Great restaurants there. Also, if you more adventurous, you can do glamping at La Leona Ecolodge: www.laleonaecolodge.com. You'll have a great time with the kids there. The National Park is full of wildlife. Very special. Dominical can also be an option if you like to learn how to surf. I suggest you get an hotel or villa outside of Dominical, maybe in Uvita or Ojochal. Dominical is 15 minutes from there. Big waves! Enjoy! |
We are going to CR in December and I'm working with Catalina Cuervo B. – C.R. Referrals / Costa Rica Vacation Experts to plan our vacation. She is fantastic and the price she gave me for 10 days of hotels, breakfast, excursions, transfers, taxes etc. was fantastic. I would encourage you to email her to see if she has any referrals for you.
