Where to eat in PDC

Staying at the Aventura Spa Palace in PDC. We know it's AI, but may want to venture out one day or two for lunch /dinner. Looking for authentic - good eats! Thanks!

Yaxche - authentic Maya cuisine - great!

i have heard that Yaxche was not such great food but that the ambiance was great. For the opposite, try Sabor, which is also on the main ave, looks like a hole but is actually tasty and fresh food. We were very pleased with our meal there.

I for one found the food at Yaxche VERY good...and of course I loved the ambience.

I would have to agree with kellygirl. I have spent much time in the Yucatan and eaten much authentic Mayan cuisine so do not place Yaxche at the top of my list. I, like kellygirl would pass on the ambiance and go for one of the truly local places with good local food.

Go to playadelcarmeninfo.com, you will get TOO much information! I have a list of about 30 places, and I'll only be there 1 week. Do a search on restaurants, and start planning!

I'm sorry, but I thought Yaxche was just OK...I was very disappointed as I was expecting much more... We really enjoyed Pancho's Frida Bar on 12th and 5 ave...It's a gorgeous restaurant with giant murals of Frida Kahlo and the food is incredible... We ate there twice on a trip.. Don't miss it..

We enjoyed the Jaguar restaurant. They have everything from wood-fired pizzas to fancy entrees.

We stayed at the Riu Palace in March and also felt like we wanted to get out for something different. We really like La Parilla. I believe it is on the corner of 5th and 8th (it is across from Fridays). We enjoyed our meals and they had great guacamole and margaritas, too. The margaritas were pretty strong though!

We ate at La Parilla too. I thought it was just the same as mexican food you get in the US. Nothing special and to me it felt like eating at TGI Friday's or something.

There is a restaurant also on the main strip there with a sign that says "by foodors" to fool tourists into eating there (yes, it says foodors not fodors). It worked on my husband and I, someone said "eat there, it's recommended by fodors" so we did. It was AWFUL, and, by the way, NOT recommended by fodors! Watch out for it and stay away! :)
