Where are the CURRENT lava flows at Arenal? Which hotels on that side?
I am trying to book for a February trip and continue to get conflicting reports concerning where the lava flows can actually be seen. I don't want to book this trip for my family and be on the "wrong" side of the mountain.

Hotels on the side of the Arenal Paraiso hotel have a view of the flow. Try to have dinner at the Kioro restaurant. http://www.hotelarenalkioro.com/restaurant.htm
I've been to Arenal many times and this place had the best dinner view.

You can not miss at the Arenal Paraiso if the lava is flowing at that time. We were told we were fortunate at the time we were there we saw it as often it has cloud cover. Their cabins at the Paraiso all face that side of the volcano. We were treated to its performance in Sept. for 2 nights which is spectacular.

Our family of 4 with two teenagers just returned 11/10/04 from Costa Rica in Arenal Volcano area we stayed in La Fortuna at Los Lagos, it was wonderful, for a family it was perfect. And,yes you could see the lava flow,it was expecially beautiful at night. There was a Hot Tub there that was only filled with hot spring water from 6pm to 10pm, you could sit in the very large tiled hot tub and watch the volcano at night, incredible.I do not know if there are better views, but this one was great ! And the price was very reasonable also.
