Hi,
I am wondering when is the best time to book our Puerto vallarta holiday. We are planning a trip in October but are flexible with our dates. my husband and I want to bring our 3 children with us but will need to get flights from Alberta fairly cheaply, (can fly from either Edmonton or Calgary). Any suggestions? How quickly do the hotels/ airlines book up? Is there usually sell off flights available since this is still "low" season?

October is still hurricane season and the times we've been down there in Oct it wasn't busy at all, so you can safely wait on a 'deal' for the hotel.

I agree it's definitely not busy that time of year gets busy the end of Nov thru May Busiest being Jan thru Mid April. In fact if you are flexible I would wait until Nov at least hurricane season would be over, and usually I found Nov the best month weather wise, except this last Nov I went and it was incredibly hot and humid first time that happened to us. We are now going in March again. Good LUck enjoy

I thought P.V. did not have a hurricane season either until the first hurricane in 65 years a few yrs ago (Kenna)was category 5, had to cancel our trip, the Sheraton was closed for 2 years The hurricane went right through there. So in fact hurricanes do happen maybe not often but they do.
