when is the spring break?

we would like to go to Moon Palace, Cancun but want to avoid the college break times. As a Brit, I do not know when this is! We are thinking of going 2nd or 3rd week of April. Also any views on Moon Palace- have done a search but new posts are always welcome!!

i think if you aim towards the 3rd week of april, you should be o.k. spring breaks vary but most are the end of march or start of april.

Spring Break in the states usually starts about the 2nd week of March and runs through Easter. If you avoid that and travel before school starts getting out, mid May, you should do fine.

About the Moon Palace though! It is a convention/business hotel, huge and the beach is not great ("crunchy" sand not powdery smooth). Otherwise, it is good with nice big rooms, good food, good pool area and activities.

I came across academic college schedule stating their Spring Break to be March 7 start date. I don't know how much the different schools vary, and Easter is late next year, April 20. Grades K-12 in US get out of school the week before or after Easter, (depends on the school district), so there may be more children those weeks.

I have no idea if this effects Cancun, but in Puerto Vallarta the Easter weekend is the busiest travel time for Mexican families to vacation on the coast. So hotel reservations can be a bit difficult over those couple weeks.

U.S. Public school spring breaks can run from early March through the week after Easter. They can be spread out over a month or more. Even school districts within the same city may take different Spring Breaks. Same with colleges. They do not coordinate with each other to either share, or avoid sharing spring break. It's pretty random. There is no way for even U.S. residents to plan around Spring Break, much less those from other countries. I would guess, however, that the weeks just before and after Easter are the most intense.
Late May and early June are also pretty heavy with teenagers on the traditional "Senior Trip" though for the life of me, I can't understand why parents would pay a couple of thousand bucks to send their babies to a foreign country where the sole purpose of the trip is to stay drunk and get laid.
