When do your kids have spring break in 2006? Planning ahead for beach vacation in Cancun and want to avoid them.
We will be staying at the JW Marriott for one week (on points) and can go anytime from the last week of January through the 2nd week of March 2006. Easter is April 16th this year.
I would suspect high school and younger have break before or after Easter week. Any ideas of when I can go to avoid the college age crowd? We went to the Riviera Maya March 12-19th this year and had to wait over 2 hours at the airport just to get thru immigration, but once we got out to Paraisio de la Bonita it was quiet.
Next year we will be right in Cancun and want to go as late as we can to get the best weather, but early enough to avoid the biggest crush of spring break people.
Would mid Feb be warm but relatively quiet?

One thing to consider is that the JW Marriott doesn't really cater to spring breakers... I cannot imagine seeing spring breakers at La Habichuela or Lorenzillos either... however, you'll see some interesting displays on the streets and buses, at shopping centers, on cabs....
February is a good idea...

Thanks for your responses! I will lean perhaps toward the end of Feb.
I wonder if February is Spring break time for any other countries such as Canada or any European countries? I had heard that somewhere... Anyone know?
I sound like I hate kids, LOL, which I do not. I just want to avoid the crowds everywhere. I want some peace while on this type of sun/sand/sea vacation. I don't think the JW will begin to compare with the Paraiso de la Bonita, but alas, the PdlB doesn't accept Intercontinental points anymore, sigh.

The week which begins with President's day is the winter break for public schools, K-12 in Massachusetts. So, no college kids but usually a very busy travel week for families. I went on a cruise that week and couldn't ever find a lounge chair!

I work at a University, our spring break is always mid-March. Many other colleges have spring break the first or third weeks in March. My kids who are in public school, always have several days off right before Easter as well as the Monday after Easter. In addition, avoid President's Week. Your best bet is before mid-February.
