what's the real deal on Playa Los Arcos Hotel?

i have heard mixed reviews of playa los arcos hotel. can anyone give me the real skinny. any one have photos of the rooms? are they dark and dank? if so any other hotel recommendations. good price (under $75 or so); good location (in the thick of things); but very clean and pleasant.

Playa Los Arcos is a 3-sided building with a big pool in the middle and facing out to the beach at Playa Los Muertos. There are different types of rooms ~ ocean or pool view rooms seem to be favorites. The rooms away on the street side can be dark, noisy, and according to one report dirty/bugs.

You will find room photos on their website at www.los-arcos.com.

It is a "normal" kind of large tourist hotel. Good at what they do, but not overly friendly personal services or particularly unique in atmosphere.

I stay at smaller family-run places in PV so can't comment more than this, from what I've heard from others who've stayed there or seen myself walking thru the lobby, pool, restaurant areas.

Not to worry ~ any hotel in the Olas Atlas area or generally "south of the river" will be in the thick of things!

First off, don't let me single-handedly talk you out of Playa Los Arcos because plenty of people like it alot. Having said that...

Tropicana, Molino de Agua, and Casa Corazon are great & right ON the beach (not sure prices).

Hotel Eloisa, Posada de Roger, Hotel Rio Cuale, Hotel Alegre, Hotel Rio are all dependable 3-stars in the same general neighborhood and the ~$50US range. They are each certainly clean and pleasant but maybe a little funkier or more "Mexican" than you are used to (it's hard to judge the tastes of someone you've never met ;-)

Casa Andrea is a sweet smaller place and each unit has an open air equipped kitchen (~$75). Cuatro Vientos is charming but further away from the beach and up the hill in downtown behind the church in a residential neighborhood.

Hotel Rosita and Pescador are often mentioned & reasonably priced, located at the head of the Malecon, and the beginning/end of the Hotel Zone nearest the north side of downtown.

You can find all of these on an internet search or most any PV hotel listing.

I think you will find the Hotel Tropicana to your liking! Mexican owned and operated on Los Muertos beach!

Amapas #214
Fx: 01152-322-26737
Ph: 01152-322-20912

adios!
mexicodan
www.mexicomexi co.info
