What's new in Costa Rica?
http://www.ticotimes.net/travel.htm
Am I a prude? Is it just me? I don't like this! I'm disappointed in the Tico Times for printing it.

I'm not a prude but I think it's stupid. There's a difference between countries where this has always been culturally accepted and pushing it somewhere it hasn't, simply to create a new tourism niche? Gross.

An orgy room....give me a break. I just find it completely distateful, especially in Costa Rica. Don't think I'll be visiting there any time soon, and I am as open-minded as they come. The tico times must have been desperate for news fodder-as you know, sex sells!

I think it's incredibly tacky. I mean to each his own, but I think that for a land that has such natural beauty and gracious people, that this really seems out of place and rather sad. I feel sorry for the sloths.

Thank you. You are all younger than I (except not so sure about your crl
and you find it distasteful as well. LOL the comments about fearful of the view and the poor sloths. Hopefully someone will be writing editorials in the Tico Times. Perhaps one of us should. Tully, you are the best with words. . .do it, PLEASE!
Did anyone find the part of the website called Ladies Only? They are prostituting Ticos as "guides" and renting them out for $150 per day to single (or not?) women! My God!

The legality of prostitution in CR is off-putting, but I guess it's fair if men get to make $$ too! But I didn't get the impression that the hotel with the "orgy room" was doing much more than having clothing optional for guests? (These days of rampant STDs and hygiene concerns, who would use such a room, anyway? eeeeuuuuw!)

I think this is tacky. You're right, volcanogirl. For me, the biggest disappointment is that the old Rio Palmas restaurant was a great place to stop for a bite to eat going to or from the Caribbean. The hotel never did much of a business though. It's in a funny location where nobody would ever want to or need to stop for the night. So I can't blame them for trying something new. Who would have expected this?

I don't like it either. Especially since it's just a way to make money, to get people to come to their hotel and stay opened. I personally find it nasty - unfortunately it doesn't seem that enough others do, since they say they're doing well. Yuck.

This is certainly not the only "sex hotel" in Costa Rica. I believe there are others, but not advertised much. However, I am especially disappointed in the Tico Times for giving it the weekly travel article.
