What To Pack - Cuzco in May/June

Headed with some friends for five days in Cuzco/Machu. Late May trip. What should I expect for weather. Any suggestions on clothing (men's)? Temperature?

May - Oct is dry season, so don't expect much rain, though I did get a night of it when I was there in July. Daytime temps are fairly warm, but the evenings get very cool and could hit freezing. You're up very high in Cuzco and Machu Picchu, so you'll need warm clothing.

I was fine with convertible pants, short and long-sleeve t-shirts, and a warm, fleece jacket. I also had a lightweight rain jacket. A good sun hat for the day - again, you're at a higher altitude and the sun is stronger; and, perhaps pick up an wool, Andean-style hat while you're there. If you're going to look dorky wearing one, Peru is the place to do it.

I was there in May/June last year. As lifelist said, the days are warm and dry but at night it is very cold. The place that we stayed at did not have heat so we froze at night. I would bring warm socks. If you are going to Lake Titicaca it is even colder there at night. We bought some great jackets and sweaters there and then gave them to the locals before heading to the Amazon. It was a great win/win. I got an incredible sun burn however, and I dont usually burn so wear sun screen during the day. Machu was not as cold as Cuzco. Have fun, an incredible trip!!!
