Probably the most famous thing to do is to head into the older part of Acapulco and check out La Quebrada, where the young men dive from the cliffs into the pounding surf below. There's shows throughout the day, but some of the most dramatic shows are around dusk or early evening.

Acapulco also has some of the best nightlife of any beach area in Mexico --- the clubs don't close down til the sun comes up.

Otherwise, lay on the beach, shop, eat, drink...there's not a lot of real cultural attractions in Acapulco itself (though the bus service is excellent, and within a few hours you can see some very VERY cool stuff....let me know if you want some ideas on day trips).

If you want to check out a few of my fotos and travelogues about Acapulco, see:

Have fun!

First you have to take the Acapulco City Tour.

This will orientate you to the area.
This tour includes the famous Cliff Divers ( a must see)

There is a lot of shopping and browsing along the long curved Acapulco Bay.

The main strip along this ciurved bay is the Costera

You can walk to many places ,like the Old Town Acapulco..called the Zocolo, the Cathederal is only block away from here.

Take a boat ride to the Acapulco Island..there are water taxis going often.

The cruise ships dock almost downtown right along the Costera.

At the hotel Costa Club thereis an excellent tour guide called Celso...please ask for him ,or ask where he is at.
Mention my name and he will for sure look after you.

I just got an e-mail from him last month.

There is a very nice shopping Mall with about 100 stores on two levels ,right next to the Costa Club Hotel.

Believe me you will want to walk into here and browse, BUT more importantly ..to just cool off as the temperature if about 97F daily.

Have fun

Percy,

Do you know if the museum inside the old fort is open?

Last time I was in Acapulco, they had the museum closed for renovation work...

Have fun!

Hi TioGringo

The last time I was there ( 18 months ago) the San Diego Fort Museum was not open yet.
So you sort of browse around on your own.
It was free also !!!

From the Fort we walked all the way to the International Marina and up to the point where you take the boat ride across to Ilsa Roqueta.

But we took the bus back.!!!
