What is the latest I can leave Liberia to drive to Arenal??

Our flight is supposed to land at 1:15 11/24, then we are heading to Tricolor to rent our 4x4. Will we be able to make the drive to Arenal that night? We are hoping the answer is yes...we want to start our trip out there and end at the beach. Other wise we will have to stay a night near Liberia or on the way to Arenal - any suggestions if this must be the case?

You should have no trouble getting from the Liberia area to Arenal in about 2 1/2 hours. If you really feel like banging up your rental car you can do it in 2 hours. The drive is pretty simple there are not a lot of turns and the signs clearly mark the way to the Arenal Volcano area. The sun does go down around 5:30 so it will be pretty dark by about 6:15 so be aware of that.

Here is a pretty good map I found that you can click on: http://www.anywherecostarica.com/map...a-rica-map.htm

Agree! Unless you are more than an hour late, you should be fine. I'd go for it!

We (my boyfriend and I) leave on a red eye November 23rd..thanks to a nasty layover in Atlanta we get in 1:15 pm on the 24th....leaving 8am Dec 1. Kicking ourselves for not planning a longer stay, we didn't realize all there is so much to see and do when we got the tickets! 7 nights is better than nothing though

We will try to keep it slow for sure, definatley don't need any tickets!thanks for the tip

Ah well, then, you might as well start planning your next trip. You're gonna HAVE to go back!
