What are your Chalalan Lodge Jungle Experiences?

Hubby and I are considering a side-trip to Chalalan Lodge in Bolivia's Madidi National Park. (www.chalalan.com) At some point in our travels we would like very much to spend some time in the Amazon Basin. We will be traveling to Bolivia this coming February in order to experience carnival at Oruro and we've been pondering a side trip either to Chalalan (17 Feb - 22 Feb)or to Cusco.

A bit of background:

We have spent two weeks in Peru before so Cusco would be a second-time visit and we would skip Machu Picchu.

Our only jungle experience was a couple days at Tikal in Guatemala. This trip was in June.

My original thoughts are to do the jungle during the dry season in order to have better weather, more predictable travel, less problems with insects and hence, less exposure to insect borne diseases.

Has anyone been to Chalalan during this time of year? What was your experience?

If you have visited Chalalan at other times of year I'd be interested in your experiences as well.

Hey thanks,
Sharon
