Traditionally the meals are as follows:

Breakfast - early morning ( 6-8 )

Lunch - This is the big meal of the day and is eaten around noon or a little later.

Dinner - this is usually a light meal ( tacos, etc. ) and is eaten at around 8:00 pm.

These are just guidelines and not everybody does it that way anymore.

I think as a tourist you will find people eating at all hours, but in my travels it seems to me that people have breakfast at maybe 8 to 10, lunch maybe 2 to 4, and dinner after 9. If you were living in Mexico, you would find that many people, after having a main meal at lunch, have only something light for dinner, like yoghurt, a sandwich, etc, but that those going to restaurants do have a large meal, and it is typically late.
