weather - Playa del Carmen

I am interested in vacationing in the Mayan Riviera in Sept, Oct, or Nov 2003. I know this is hurricane season. Is it better to go in Nov - lesser chance of hurricanes? How hot will it be? Any info is appreciated.

Dear Melinda,

There is probably less of a chance of a hurricane in November, but you can never count on the weather. I haven't missed spending an October in Mexico in the last 10 years, and we only had one major hurricane in all that time. It was in '95 and we missed it by a few days. Although it was a cat. 3 hurricane most of the restaurants were up and running within 10 days or less. By the way, the weather we had just after the storm was beautiful for our entire 2 week stay. You can check out the weather history site listed below.

Check out this web site for tours lead by the Friends of Sian Ka'an group. It is a non-profit organization and tour guides are usually biologists. Very informative tours lead by a very worthwhile organization.
