weather in PV in Dec.

Somewhere I thought I had read that the weather is only in the 60's in Dec.??? Planning a trip to PV and was hoping for sunshine. Are the whales there in Dec.?

suze Jul 9th, 2006 08:27 AM

That's not correct. December is gorgeous!! Likely high 70's low 80's clear, sunny, breezy. I've been both at the begining and end of December and always had great weather.

Sorry don't know about whales.

thanks, suze, for your info. I possibly had looked at the lows for Dec. sounds like Dec. will be perfect!

Maybe at night it cools off that much? I'm not sure. Not to worry December is typically near perfect weather.

Suze, sounds like you know the area pretty well. Can you help with choice of condos? Looking at Lindo mar, Playa del sol costa sur& ocho cascadas. Any thoughts? I understand beaches are better (cleaner) further south of town. Thanks!

Ditto with Suze, December is perfect and that is why it is HIGH season and prices for Condo's are more. Lindo Mar is nice, but I personally like the condo's on the beach, i.e. Plaza Dorada, Playa or Vista Del Sol. Also Suites Emperador for a hotel has spacious rooms with a kitchen set up on the patio (But be sure and get the ocean view above the Lazy Lizard restaurant). I would contact an agent for a condo for December, the best ones, closest to the beach and Olas Altas and Basilio Badilla go fast. Try Vista Travel on the net or Patricia Diaz: [email protected] or Wendy at [email protected]/ These are reputable agencies. We have seen whales the end of December. Look up Vallarta Adventures on the NET. I think you can email them and ask them about the whales in December as they are the main tour group and very reliable.

I know the area pretty well, but have not stayed in condos to be able to help with that part.

Playa Los Arcos (the main local beach on the south-side) is kept very clean because the bars and restaurnts that line it, take care of the sand in front of each place every day. There are less people/hotels the further south you go.

For me, it is important to be easy walking distance to everything around the Old Town so I wouldn't want to go too far south. Note that some places that "overlook" the beach/ocean down Conchas Chinas way are UP up up a hill from the beach. I don't know about those you mentioned, but this is something to consider. It's sometimes hard to judge from the website photos.

blondlady-
Have you stayed at Suites Emperador yourself? If yes, what did you think? I stopped in and the nice guy at the front desk showed me two of the ocean view jr suites, last month when I was down and they seemed nice for the money. but when I posted about the hotel on Trip Advisor I got only bad comments about the place (people not getting the room they have reserved, the place being run down, etc.) so now I'm not sure.

Hi Suze: I inquired last month and probably was shown the same suites as you. I liked what I saw and we are thinking of staying there next January 19-24. I too noticed some bad reviews, but mixed in with some good reviews. I think when one reserves there they should just be insistent on Ocean view and ask for the building above the Lazy Lizard. The rates are reasonable. Also I will ask to see the room before I move into it. After January will let you know how it "was".
