wanted: hotel recommendation for Puntarenas, Costa Rica

I'll be traveling from San Jose to Montezuma and returning via bus/ferry/bus and will be staying overnight in Puntarenas enroute each way. Can anyone recommend a hotel for under $90? I'm looking for something that is clean, not tiny, relatively quiet, in a safe area, with a private bath and hot water.

Hello Kitty, I recommend Hotels only on the Paseo de los Turistos. Hotel Tioga and Las Brisas are clean and safe. See the locations on http://www.costaricaweb.de/crweb/en/index-en.htm

Why stay overnight in Puntarenas? It's only 3 hours from Montezuma including the ferry ride.

I agree that, if possible, you'd be better off avoiding 2 overnight stays in Puntarenas. Of course, I don't know your itinerary, but it seems a waste of 2 nights--if you can do it another way.

Are you talking about staying in Puntarenas near the ferry? It's really not very nice there. There are so many nice places in CR that it would be worth driving a little farther out.
