volcano view

What other hotels/lodges in arenal have lava views of the volcano? Last year we stayed at the Arenal Observatory Lodge and had excellent views and accommodations, but this year I am not able to secure rooms there for my family. This will be my son's and daughter-in-law's first trip to the area and I would really like them to be able to see the lava flows.
Thanks for any suggestions!

http://www.arenal.net/arenal-costa-rica-map.htm shows a map of the area. We've had good viewing from the Lost Iguana; they run some pricing specials on their website.

As far as I know only AOL and Lost Iguana have lava views at this time. The lava flow does change once in a while, but no one has been reporting views from other hotels here.

I will check out the Lost Iguana website. Thanks for the suggestion!

You're welcome; their website is www.lostiguanaresort.com. Sometimes you can get a percentage off or a buy two nights get one free deal - it's a neat spot.

We were at AOL on December 9 and the volcano was quiet and the peak was shrouded in clouds. The desk said there had been no volcano activity for 3-4 months. It's a peaeful place though

I was just at AOL December 24-26 and the volcano had become active again just a few days before I got there. Real fireworks!

According to the locals we talked to, only AOL and Lost Iguana have lava views at the current time, but the website volcanogirl provided is very helpful.
