Villas Del Carribe versus Shawhanda Lodge

Has anyone stayed or seen both of these lodges and if so, which would you choose.

I didn't see Shawhanda, but just got back from Villas Del Caribe. We stayed in one of the two story villas and really loved it, but note that it does not have a swimmable beach in front of it, coral/reef/rocks, so you have to walk down a hundred yards to left, no pool, no tv, and they only serve a small continental breakfast. The owner and staff are great, it is about a 5 minute drive to town, or $5 taxi. It was also very quiet, which was nice. Hope this helps.

Punta Uva is the best beach in the area for swimming and a beautiful walk also. Casa Viva beachside rentals are our choice when we head to Puerto Viejo.
