Velas Vallarta & Quinta Marie - PV

Looking for advice on the Velas - My husband and I are two different travelers - he's more mainstream and I like off the beaten path. I am planning a 9 night trip to PV and plan on spending the last 5 at Quinta Maria but need advice on a resort/golf place for the first 4 - the Velas has been recommended - just looking for anyone that's been there recently.

Here is a link to my trip report from my January 2004 trip to PV, we stayed at the Velas. The trip report has a detailed description of our stay there.

Thanks for the reply - enjoyed reading about your trip. As far as other restaurants...are there reasonable ones within walking distance or is it best to cab it into town? Sounds as if you were pleased with the Velas - I was able to get a studio for 99.00 a night and I don't think I can beat that anywhere else for was appears to be the quality of the hotel.

There are restaurants at the Marina which is close by, but we usually take a cab to town for dinner. Your studio is a good deal, but you should be aware you will have an exterior room with no balcony or view. However, for that price, it makes sense and I would say is worth the savings. It is so easy to lounge on the beautiful grounds there, it won't matter much.

thanks for the heads up - I specifically asked if there was a balcony and the travel agent indicated yes - are all studios interior?

I believe that all of the studios are on the "outside" ring of the "U" shaped hotel, thus no balcony, no view of ocean. If you go to their website, you can see photos and descriptions of the rooms, and it doesn't look like a balcony/terrace is in the "studio" description. Here is the website:
