there are several family friendly AIs in the Playa Del Carmen area.

I agree with the previous post, Playa del Carmen and most of the area in the Mexican Riviera is a great place for all of the things you are looking for. Also great prices and easy to get to. Rent a car from the airport and drive, it's about an hour and a half, and will allow you to see alot more.

Another vote for Playa Del Carmen. I definitely recommend going to Xel-Ha (pronounced Shell Ha). Is a great park for snorkeling, tubing and relaxing. Has a great dolphin encounter. I did the dolphin encounter at Xel-Ha and was in the water with the dolphins for about a half hour. Was a great time and kids love it!
