Uber in Cancun?

I'll be traveling to Cancun with my 19 and 21 year old kids in June. Has anyone used uber to get from the airport to the hotel zone? Are the drivers easy to find, and are they reasonable?

There are a few recent posts on the Trip Advisor Cancun forum about this.

(Not surprisingly sounds like there is push back from the official taxis who work the airport.)

Uber is not legal in Cancun and not allowed to pick up at the airport. There was a post on TA forums earlier this AM showing a Uber car and driver with passengers in the backseat sitting on top of a flatbed tow truck (post was closed by the mods so I cannot post a link to it here).
They are not paying taxes or permits and many vehicles have been impounded (Uber is pouring millions of $ in fines to try and break into the market there).
I do not respect any company who does not respect and obey the laws of their host country.
Book a private transfer, I have used USA Transfer and also Canada Transfer gets good reviews. Taxi will be VERY expensive from the airport.
