Two McDonald's Closed by Health Minister, Costa Rica

Two McDonald's were closed by the Health Minister in Costa Rica for health code violations that appeared to be expired food handling permits and failure to complete required food handling classes. Locations were in San Jose.

One of the units of McDonald's by the Banco Central has reopened. Management states they are trying to comply with health regulations.

Interestingly, the restaurant across from the Banco Central was the first McDonald's outside the U.S. or Canada. It opened in 1970. I've never heard why the company chose Costa Rica for it's first big international expansion that way. It wasn't as if Costa Rica was the hot tourist/expat destination back then that it was to later become.

CDC.GOV CR

I am defintely NOT loving it...

But I have had my Hep A jab/booster so I will eat my

Quarter Pounder with cheese today...

At least it has less fillers than Taco Bell.

It is all BS. They closed Cafe Mundo down as well. The amount of restaurants here that have served me food with insects from a cockroach covered kitchen on a dirty plate is about 50%.
