Turtle tours

Where is the best place to see turtles the first week in November? Has anyone had any success in seeing them on the night tours?

Hi joycer!

Coming into November, turtle sightings in Tortuguero (Caribbean side) are much less reliable. Your best bet at this time is to head to Ostional on the Pacific Coast, this is major spot to see the Olive Ridley turtles coming ashore, your chances are very good of seeing them on a night tour.

Hope this helps!

We saw turtles in Tortuguero, but July through October is the best time to see the kind that we were there for. Be sure to pack dark clothes to wear if you go on the night hike; they told us that light/white clothes can confuse the turtles.

Early November you may be able to catch the hatching of the baby turtles at Tortuguero.

Our family first had the extraordinary opportunity to see tiny Loggerhead sea turtles hatching years ago when we stayed at a beachfront condominium on Topsail Island in North Carolina.
