I think it's all about what one wants.

We went to Punta Bete in 1977, way "back then" when the only thing there was "Capitan LaFitte's" which became "Marlin Azul" and god knows what it is now.

This was for R&R from a year-long study in a Maya village much further inland.

My moment of absolute wonder came while standing in a blistering hot forest next to a man dressed in rags. He was blessing what would become his next year's corn field. To hear a modern Maya call upon Chac, the rain serpent, (as well as Jesus and the Virgin) was life-changing.

Amen to all that
Whew!!!!
What I liked about Tulum was climbing on top of all the ruins and looking out over that lovely blue/green water.
This thread was like , what is better all Inclusive or not..that debate does not end either

I can see both sides of the argument when I was younger drinking tequila and barfing was good fun but ruins weren't. Now I'm 36 they seemed to have reversed. Perhaps I should try barfing from the top of the ruins to compare the two?

I think the Maya did a lot of eccentric things on top of those temples. I don't think trying a barf or two would be violating any traditions. ;;)
