Tulum/seaweed

Considering going to Tulum in January. Any advise on the seaweed situation? Also we are in our mid fifties. Love a laid back somewhat rustic place. Will this be a good fit???

It comes and goes, depends on the winds, etc. Some days are free and others have sargassum. Here is a link to a webcam on the north end of Tulum at Paraiso Beach:

Obviously no one can tell what things will be like in 2 months.

Tulum is a unique place. The beach road is lined with small hotels, cabanas, etc, most with their own electric generators. The beach is vast, white sand, with a fairly good surf - lots of room to relax. The actual town is about 1.5 miles inland, and is a funky mix of local culture, euro counter culture, great restaurants and touristy shops. I think you'll love it!

It can be pretty gross. We were in the Mahuahual and Xcalak areas in May when there was plenty of it.
