Tulum Lodging?
 

Any suggestions for lodging on Tulum Beach?

Our favorite, Cabanas la Conchitas, is booked for our dates. We are looking for nicely designed lodging on a terrific beach. Our price range is under two hundred.

La Zebra is my current fave...better beach than La Conchita.

Thank you so much for the recommendation. That was the only part about la Conchita that was not my favorite.

We have about nine days and I think that it might be too long to stay at one place in Tulum, although I am not ruling it out. Any other ideas of where to stay a night or two? Some where really amazing at the end of the trip might tempt me.

Unless you REALLY love to lie on the beach all day, 9 days in Tulum might be a bit much, even with day trips to Coba and some cenotes. We usually stay a few nights in Playa del Carmen just to liven things up. Playa has a great beach, but also lots of dining, shopping, and nightlife options.
ps; In Tulum, las Ranitas is a very nice on the beach hotel.

I'm always happy to stay 10 days in Tulum. Just depends on your wants/needs.

If you want to split it up, try Casa Magna - that's my other fave from our last trip. The rooms are huge and very cool with mosaics accents all around. And again...the beach is just a smidge better.

Pepper, have you seen Casa Violeta? We are thinking about staying there. Or maybe Casa Magna. I have not heard back from them yet. Did you enjoy your stay? It sounds very nice. A lot like the Villas in Cayaes. Casa Magna has had quite few negative reviews on Trip Advisor. I was a little worried that there might be some tension there...

Zootsi, I will think about Playa. It has just changed so much since I lived there (20 years ago).

I wanted to eat at Casa Violeta, but they said they were only open for hotel guests during the non-season...but they were nice about it. I didn't get a chance to look into a room, but they look good to me.

I was all ready to witness the tension at Casa Magna - there was none. We didn't stay there, but ate dinner one night and had lunch another day and stayed on their beach all day....no tension...and my ears were perked to hear it!!!

If Casa Violeta works for you, I might choose them only because I'm usually on some sort of budget and the food options are probably less expensive.

All lunch entrees at Casa Magna are $14usd and all dinner entrees are $25 (but it's 3 course). The best deal at Casa Magna is a smoothie for $3. But the setting is very lovely.

I had looked at the pix of Casa Violeta on their site - that's where they looked good....

I WISH!!!!

We returned a month ago. So we probably won't go to Tulum again until next year when the kids are off from school. My next trip is a roadtrip to Marfa...whoopie!!

I'd love hear about your trip when you return.

From where did you return and where is Marfa??

Ohhh...sorry, we returned from Tulum - so everything is still "fresh" in my mind.

Marfa is in Texas.

We very much enjoyed our stay at Los Lirios last March. The beach was superb and our upper floor Ocean View room (I believe it was C3) was very large and attractive with a lovely view. AC was a plus and there are few hotels in Tulum with AC. Breakfast was good, particularly the custom omelets. We paid under $100/night through Price-Travel. The rack rate was about $30 more. I would skip their restaurant though. Although OK, there is better for the price. We liked Charly's, on the beach near the ruins. They also have a good place in town. It is one of those few places that look much better than the pictures on their website.

Thank you, Basingstroke. I appreciate your review. Actually we try to avoid a/c when we are are vacation and are a little disappointed when we have electricity. I am glad that you enjoyed Los Lirios. It does look nice.
