Tulemar or Buena Vista Villas?

Is Buena Vista Villas worth the extra $$? We're a family of 4 (kids 9 & 14). Would love to hear from those who have stayed at either property!

My family of 5 stayed at Tulemar a couple of years ago. Buena Vista was sold out at the time but we got to know one of the owners of BV and he gave us the grand tour and hung out at his Villa one evening. The interiors were very nice. Much newer. the pool at the BV is better. The location is not as good. You are in between both areas. Breakfast is served up (100 or so step) at Tulemar ( unless that has changed) and the beach is still a good walk. Also, the monkeys still go past BV but are more concentrated along the canyon.

Furthermore, to get to the other room below most villas require going outside. No stairs inside which I did not like. For your age kids that should be no problem. It is very safe with gated entry ans security. In fact the whole area of Manuel Antonio is pretty safe anyway.

Tulemar was more basic and very clean. It is older but we were not disappointed at all. I would give BV a shot next time we go. My only reservation is that the wildlife that was hopping on our roof and staring through the windows every day and night at Tulemar was so much fun and we would be disappointed if that did not happen at BV.

BV is just below Tulemar. Really the same place.

Pumpy I think we have the same taste. I used your info when we went to Belize last summer. We too stayed at Cha Creek. We stayed in one of the big villas below the restaurant just aobve the river.

We then stayed at Turtle Inn afterwards. We loved Cha Creek. The Villa was nicer and had more character at Cha Creek but not as much wildlife as Tulemar. BV is newer and fancier than Cha Creek but the grounds are more manicured in Belize ( the english influence) than Buena Vista.

The kids still like Costa Rica better than Belize.

I have my kid birthday at Buena Vista Villas and Casas, we rented 2 of them, let me tell you, was the best birthday for my kid. I will pay any extra to stay at the Casas.

We loved Tulemar. The private secluded beach was a big positive and we had monkeys on our porch every morning. It is also central to all restaurants and close to the park and public beaches as well.
