Trying to See Too Much in Chile?
We are going to Chile in December for 3 weeks. As it stands we want to spend one week on the coast outside of Santiago (I'll be surfing) and about one week on Easter Island.
Are we trying to do too much with our three weeks if we also include 4-5 days in Torres del Paine? Seems like there is a lot to see around Santiago that we might not be able to see if we try to do too much . . . thanks in advance. |
What are you planning to do around Santiago?
|
Museums, wine tasting (vineyards), eating at good restaurants . . . not sure what else? Any suggestions?

You don't want to go to the Atacama Desert? That was my favorite part. Also, I've never been to Easter Island, but do you really need a whole week there?

I won't interfere with your week of surfing! For Easter Island the ideal is 5 days. You can do it in 3 but it would be rushed and it is a very special place. Try to leave 3 days for Santiago as there are fine parks, museums and restaurants. If you have 4-5 days left then yes you could do a visit to Torres del Paine. You'll have to fly to Punta Arenas, transfer to Puerto Natales and then into the park. If you are interested in doing this, you would need to book soon. You won't have time to do any treks, but you will have a chance to see this beautiful area and take some tours around there. It is not cheap. Like Easter Island, everything has to be brought in.
Now, if you could tear yourself away from the waves, you would have time to visit the northern desert too. |
Thanks everyone for you opinions. More opinions are still appreciated.
