Things we did:

Lookout - *Hiked to a waterfall then up to the top of a mountain. Tough hike!
*Enjoyed the beach (too rough to swim)also went to a lagoon and in the evening checked out the frog pond saw lots of frogs and baby Bushmaster snakes...YIKES!!

Bosque del Cabo - *Went on a tree climbing & waterfall rappelling trip. 70 ft tree climb and 110 and 44 ft waterfall rappell
*Kayaking to a beach where we had fresh fruit and snacks cut short due to rain and lightling but we did see 2 bottlenosed dolphin

Tabacon - *Safari raft trip...slow going but saw quite a few animals and birds, even saw 2 american crocs
*Sky Tram/Sky Trek - This is the highest canapy tour I have ever been on, it's crazy but fun. The last line is 1/2 mile long. You go so fast that you don't even brake they brake for you...just insane. I LOVED IT!
*Hot Springs We loved going to the main pool and waiting for the lava to flow

Peace Lodge - *Horseback riding to the waterfall, nice ride and beautiful waterfall. After all the steps down you will be ready to jump in
*Class II & III whitewater rafting, great guide and lot's of action

Pacure - *Class II & III rafting...this was a great ride.

Si Como No - *Deep sea fishing, nothing caught but it was fun

surprised the Pacuare was so low rated. was the water really low?

terry does have a lot of stairs behind the LookOut Inn doesn't he!!!!!!!!

so sorry you had to cut your kayak trip short. we were able to kayak right along with the dolphins a few months ago when we were there.

They do need to improve their check in proceedures at that airport. we allowed three hours and used all but 20 minutes of it. Not much time to get a bite to eat.

Hi Mary.
I think we met up with you on your last night at Bosque during dinner. You were travelling with your husband, son, and daughter and you advised us to visit Lookout/Carate to see Scarlett Macaws.
We took your advise and we saw hundreds of them at the small airport strip in Carate. Wow it made our trip, the birds were so beautiful it looked as if the trees were full of brightly coloured fruit and then they would all take flight together It was an amazing sight to see.
I hope I have the right Mary thanks again sounds like you guys had an awesome trip Ami

Hey mangofanatic,

The lagoon was at the Lookout Inn, it was quite a walk along the beach to get there. The baby Bushmasters were around the frog pond Terry has at the Lookout Inn. After we got home we checked and the diet for the young Bushmasters is frogs and tadploes. We also saw frog eggs on the side of a stucco wall I thought that was weird but I guess when they hatch the parent takes it to the pond...I should have got a pic of that it was cool.

Hi Suzie2,

We did the top half which is usually class III but it was low so there were some Class II. All the rivers are low due to a shortage of rain this season.

As far as our flight when we left the next day we only had an hour to get through customs in Houston so we missed our connection and they lost a bag but we got it later in the evening.
Oh well, this is all a part of travel.

Hey amlay,

Yes it's me...how funny
I'm glad you went and saw so many scarlets. Did you go see Terry?
Bosque was beautiful wasn't it? Remember us talking about the guy who almost got hit with a coconut by the white face monkey There were so many animals there.

I'll shoot you an email so you can let me know more about your trip.

Man, I would leave to CR tomorrow if I could I love this small country!

How did Lookout Inn compare to Bosque? Are they close to each other? Was it a good idea to go to both? Thanks, Joyce

Hi Joyce,

Bosque and Lookout are totally different. Lookout is more rustic and Bosque is elegant rustic and a long hike to the beach and I would suggest a pickup at the beach because everyone told me the way back is all uphill and a hard hike. I loved Bosque, lot's of wildlife. Lookout was nice and the scarlet macaws were great. As were the frogs and snakes you can walk to the beach at the Lookout but the surf is very rough with lots of riptides not a great swimming beach but it was fun chashing crabs and collecting stuff. They are about 45 mins to an hour apart but that is alot concidering the road you have to travel...BUMPY!
If you go from the PJ airport to the Lookout it will be a 2 hour drive in the back of a truck...just hang on and you will be fine I think Bosque would be about an hour. We spent 2 nights at Lookout and that was plenty, we spent 3 at Bosque and I could have stayed forever.

Hoped this helped.

We are planning to stay at the Tabacon Resort for 2 days. Arriving saturday mid day, and then leaving Monday am for MA. Have a spa treatment planned for 3:30pm Saturday afternoon. Is there enough to do at the resort on Sunday or do should we consider a tour? I figured between hiking on our own and the hot springs it would filled up the day. What are your thoughts?
