Water taxi San Pedro to Chetumal, Mex.

We have a trip scheduled in a couple of days from San Pedro to Chetumal, Mex. Has anybody ever done that? It sounds like a day trip that is in demand, at least from what we have heard since we've been here.

What can we expect to see and do when we get there?

Thanks

Why do you want to go to Chetumal? Most people here in Belize go there to shop.

I've only been through there, passing on my way from Cancun to Belize. It's a fairly large city. I'm not sure it's much of a tourist destination.

I am afraid you may have been misled by someone. The big draw that I know of in Chetumal is Sam's Club......

The destination might not be Chetumal per se. Chetumal is a bus hub. My family will look for service from Chetumal by water to San Pedro, while making our way south, after deplaning in Cozumel. If you can't get the water taxi in Chetumal, you can catch it in Corozol (sp?)---- according to my online references. So back to the question---has anyone done this recently?

Why are you being so judgmental JeanH? I just want to know what is there and what to expect. No disrespect intended, but we all have different interests.

We do not snorkel nor do we dive, so we have to look for other activities to occupy our time. I know not snorkeling and/or diving is kind of a negative here, but we like the location, just needed something else to do.

Perhaps a little shopping is good for the soul every once in a while?

Thanks for the replies.

I'm sorry. I just don't want you to 'waste' your vacation time thinking you're heading for a place that isn't what you thought it was.

Once again, I apologize. I was afraid you had been misled by someone as to what there is in Chetumal.

No, I haven't done the trip from Chetumal recently. I do know there are two water taxis from Chetumal to Ambergris Caye now. One has daily departures, I'm not sure about other.

There's also the Thunderbolt from Corozal. I don't know its schedule either.

We haven't traveled that route since there was a water taxi option right from Chetumal, we always flew from Corozal to Ambergris.
