Hi mlgb,
Am most definitely doing a CDMX and Mexico Trip Report, heading to Morelia for five days this morning. Mexico City is awesome and can’t believe it’s taken me so long to get here. It reminds me of Paris in some ways, except the people are smiling! Glad to see you are headed This way soon!

Will look forward to your report (and my first trip, also).

One comment I would make on 5 days in CDMX, is to consider starting out with a walking tour. I’m a little biased because I give walking tours in Downtown Los Angeles, but we took “free” tour with Strawberry tours and had a great guide for Centro Historico. Started in Alameda Park and ended up at Templo Mayor. Very interesting and of course gave him a nice tip, but well worth it.

Sounds like a great idea, Tdiddy.

Are your DTLA tours through the Conservancy?

Yes! Art Deco and Historic Downtown, although I am out of town for four months, back March 8th. May be rusty!

Tdiddy, is the library on your tour? I read The Library Book & have been thinking about driving down.

Hi MmePerdu - The library is on our tour but mostly comment on the outside for Art Deco and a little on the inside In the Historic tour. The library offers two great tours so we try not get in there way!

Excellent, thanks!

(Apologies all for veering off topic)

Dido!

No problem.

I was going to ask if you had ever been inside the 321 N Spring Courthouse since they reopened it?

Sort of a hidden gem if you are near City Hall. I guess it's Moderne rather than Art Deco, though.

We had a excellent brunch at Quinta Real Oaxaca. The building is beautiful to explore. There were also markets to walk to from the center great for browsing and purchasing. Have a great trip.

MLGB - I’ve been up to the front door. I think you must be talking about the Hall of Justice. I believe it’s Sherrif’s administration now.

mlgb Dec 25th, 2019 07:44 AM

There are a few WPA sculptures and murals inside the 312 N Spring courthouse and the lobbies are mostly intact. I can't recall whether the courtrooms were anything special.
I seem to recall going into the Hall of Justice at some point, also.

MLGB - In regards to the Etnobotanico Jardin, as has been stated in many forums, but I will concur, if you go to the Cultural Museum, there are many great view of the gardens. I feel you may not get all the info but you can get some great shots of the garden. Just saying...
