Trip Pics - La Leona Eco Lodge, Cabinas Jimenez, Bosque del Cabo & Xandari

Here are some pics from my trip late May and early June. Most are self-explanatory so I didn't bother with captions. If any questions, please ask; unless you want to know a bird name, then ask shillmac :D Will put together a trip report sooner, but probably later.

Tully, you always do such a great job with your pictures. The lighting is perfect. You really captured some beautiful scenery, and some fun things too - love the shot of the Fanta!

Thanks for sharing. It was fun to see that area. We are still debating whether to go to the Osa Peninsula or Puerto Viejo area next Feb. We've already been to Guanacaste, MA, & Arenal so just want to see another area. We are leaning on PV & then go to Tortuguero to see the turtles, raft the Piquare & mostly just hang out watching the wildlife & do some snorkeling. Have you been to both?

Excellent pics, tully, and wow, a tapir - that's pretty exciting!

shillmac Jun 8th, 2010 05:27 AM

great pics, Tully. Looks like a great trip! I think to get your full fix you're gonna have to move. . . .

Idahospud, I'm pretty sure turtle viewing at Tortuguero is July-Oct. The Osa would be a better bet for February, probably drier there that time of year as well. BUT. . .it's all good!

Great pics tully and so quick posting! Looking forward to the exciting details... ;-)

idahospud - Osa, Puerto Viejo and Tortuguero are all great areas - as shillmac said should be a bit drier (hot too) in Osa that time of year. The Pacuare is terrific!

Great pics, looking forward to your report! I'm making my first trip to CR and Bosque del Cabo in late November. Nice to get a little peek.

Welcome home, Tully!! Laughed and cried for you after hearing about your last night's accomodation and dining at Denny's!!
Loved your pics. Is that the new pool at Xandari? I'm staying there late July. It looks fabulous! Which room did you have?

Great pictures, it brings such nice memories back. Would love to hear more about La Leona and Matapalo, haven't been to either yet, might have to follow in your footsteps (again).

BTW, really glad you didn't step on the Coral Snake at BdC! The babies are even more dangerous than the adults. Good Eyes!!!

Thanks all for looking at the pics and your kind comments. I will get to a report soon, hopefully this weekend.

crlover yes that's the new pool, it was room 24 I was in. Close to the spa but a good walk up to reception/restaurant. They are building a new restaurant down past the spa, near the new West pool, but it's just starting clearing now, so may be a while.

Ballardo, thanks and you're welcome, always a pleasure to be in CR, and especially the Osa. I did not know that about baby snakes. My foot literally froze about 6 inches off the ground when I looked down and saw him. He slithered away so fast I wasn't able to get more than 1 clear pic.

Just curious, which cabin did you have at Bosque, it looks great!

My girlfriend and I leave in 10 days, WOOHOO!!!! (I think we are staying in Mariposa)

seattle, I was in Congo which is Mariposa's next door neighbor. Have a great time, your departure is just about here!

ShellD Jun 9th, 2010 06:29 AM

Great pictures tully! We leave in a little more than a month, so this was great timing! Thanks for sharing!

plumboy Jun 9th, 2010 10:03 AM

tully, I also have a "multiple toucans in a tree" pic, so don't think I'm copying you! Though I probably am.

susierah Jun 9th, 2010 05:18 PM

Tully, Thank you so much for sharing these photos! Do you think that the monkey in photo # 88 and 89 in the Bosque de Cabo group is pregnant? I could look at photos of the Osa area all day long! We will be at BdC in July and I am counting the days!

volcanogirl Jun 9th, 2010 06:25 PM

tully, what is that bird that's all tucked into that crazy little nest? Or should I say, shillmac what kind of bird is that? I've never seen that before.

tully Jun 9th, 2010 06:39 PM

vg I know that one! It's a hummingbird, and apparently there are 2 babies below her. I took just some really quick shots, didn't want to unnerve her.

jane, yes when I get to Bosque must crack open a Fanta (not an Imperial, despite what shillmac says).

susie, I don't know, it may be the way she's sitting, but she's certainly a healthy girl. Have fun in July, already wishing I was back there.

Shelley have a great time.

hipvirgochick Jun 9th, 2010 07:29 PM

It's true vgirl. Fanta was always a higher priority than Imperial sad to say. ;-). Hi tully.
