Travel Times from Arenal Paraiso to San Jose airport
On our last day of our trip to Costa Rica we will be leaving Arenal Paraiso and returning to the San Jose airport. We will be making at stop at La Paz Waterfall, hope to spend at least 2 hours there. Our flight is at 02:00 in the afternoon.
We have an experienced driver to transport us. My question is, what is the driving times between Arenal Paraiso and La Paz Waterfall and then from La Paz Waterfall to the San Jose airport.
I assume arriving 2 hours in advance of the flight time is still enough time.
Thanks for any assistance

The drive from Arenal to the airport would be about 3.5 hrs, to La Paz maybe about 2 hrs and from La Paz to the airport about 1.5 hrs. I would think you need to leave Arenal very early, maybe 6 - 6:30am, I think La Paz waterfalls opens at 8:30am. Enjoy! We took a flight departing at 1pm, we arrived at the airport at 11am, and check in was very fast, we had paid our taxes ahead of time though, I don't know how long this would have taken if we would of done it that day. Good luck!

In all reality, there are times when 2 hours before departure will not give you enough time. Hard to predict. I'd suggest trying to get there at least 2.5 hours ahead of your scheduled flight.
Perhaps it is just me, but trying to fit a tour of La Paz in between leaving Arenal and needing to be at the airport a little before noon seems risky. You won't have any cushion time at all should you have a delay on the road (not an infrequent occurance).

I'm with Shillmac. You need to be at the airport by 12 noon at least, and I think this is a hard itinerary. It's taken me over 4 hours to get from Arenal to San Jose, and I don't think you'd have time to enjoy La Paz. It's definitely worth seeing, but try to squeeze it in on another day -- not the day you leave. My two cents, anyway.
