travel insurance
My husband thinks we need travel insurance. I have my doubts. Any thoughts on this? This board is so smart. I really appreciate your advice, Thanks!!!

We get it to cover any extreme medical need as our personal med insurance does not apply out of the US. Other benifits come along with it. Hopefully we will never need to make a claim.

Earthtraveler: Which inssurnce company do you use? We have checked travel guard as they were mentioned in one of our travel guides.

We've used Travel Guard and more recently CSA.

Can I be frank? Never, ever, ever, travel without insurance that will pay for medical expenses (especially if you are visiting the US!!! - haha).
But seriously, if you have private medical insurance in your home country that covers treatment abroad - then of course you don't need it. But do such policies exist? NO. So it's not really about cover for lost belongings (maybe you have a home & contents that covers that?) - it's about having a serious accident when you need to get shipped out. just my two pence worth. If you are going to the UJ Yneedyy n> icompedse yroucorgtrye facal rig althougjy la |
I don't know whether to smile or be concerned! Was that last part "fuzzy logic"?
At any rate, good advice. We DON'T purchase travel insurance, and you all have definintely made me rethink that. I remember earlier discussions on this board as well. . .it really is an issue of needed to be medi-flighted home isn't it? Cost is like 50 grand or something like that? |
Anybody knows of a cancellation insurance only?
I have a great health insurance from work, worldwide coverage including medical transportation home, and don't feel like paying for a duplicate medical. |
Last year we had to cancel a trip because my MIL was hospitalized and I was glad to have trip insurance (we buy it online directly with TravelGuard). You can check out different policies and different companies at insuremytrip.com.
