Travel in Mexico

My sister+I arrive Mex/City 8/4/07 from NZ. for 19 days travel in Mexico. Our Travel plans require alot of airtravel. Should we prebook+pay air tickets before arriving? What about a 'mexipass' Has anyone used this recently?
Can I book for the Copper Canyon from NZ for the(11/4/07).Maybe we could do this in Mex/
city?
(We have found booking tours from in the country we are visiting to be alot cheaper than doing it from home)

Hi - can't help with most of your questions having gone south rather than north from DF. However, you can get some bargains if you book on the net in advance and I can recommend interjet. Can't remember off the top of my head all the places they fly to but you could check website. Only thing is they fly out of Toluca airport not the main DF airport (Benito Juárez) but there is a courtesy bus at nominal charge to take you to Toluca - so it may be of interest.

Hi Kiwiana,
I've travel to most cities in Mexico. If you let me know what you are looking for as far as beach, colonial, or nature, I can come up with some suggestions.

We should probably avoid using DF; DF'ers, and other slang referrals to the Mexicanos who live in Mexico City, as it is impolite when used by gringos.

I thought it merely stood for District Federale (or something like that... that is bad?)
