Travel agent needed?
We are interested in going to Argenta, probably just Buenos Aires and Iguazu Falls for about a week. We are used to arranging things on our own but I've noticed that there is a lot of talk about travel agents on this board. Is travel in Argentina more complicated than other places?
(apologies if this is a repeat, don't see my original message on-line) |
More complicated? No, but some prices are reserved for residents of Argentina or for those booking within Argentina...which means a local agent can often save you money....
My advice is to check the best prices you can get on your own, then check with a local agent and see if he/she can save you money. |
honest piece of advice, drdawggy. First they should check all prices and then ask to see if they can get better ones with an agent.
Organizing a trip to a country you have never been to is rather difficult. Having a contact helps, here and everywhere. The web info is not always clear or with updated rates. Getting low rate tickets is cheaper in Argentina, I guess. But it is not only money what counts when people think about a TA. It is to rely on a local who can advise you about location, services, good offers, distances, other alternatives and what not. Definitely, Argentina is not more complicated than other places. |
Better, yes. More complicated, no.
Argentina offers spectacular scenery, friendly people, great food and entertainment. What more could a person ask? |
Having just completed all of the reservations, etc. for our 3 week trip to Argentina and Chile, the agents must work for $0.20 US an hour or gringo tourists are getting way ripped off.

Hi I agree with drdawggy Travel agents can be very useful in Argentina ...when looking for a travel agency be sure your are dealing with a properly registered one, one than gives you its addrerss, phone, e mail, plus proper ID as a bona fide agency.
Look in this forum or other forums and choose one agency that has been recommended not by one but by many former clients. |
Thanks for the input!
