Transportation to San Pedro

Looking for transportation options to San Pedro on a Saturday evening in February. My flight doesn't get in until 4:00 pm and I'd rather not spend the night in Belize City before heading to the island.

What are my options? Thanks so much...

You'll be able to make a flight on either Tropic or Maya Island Air. Cost is about US$55.00 and the the flight takes about 15 minutes.

I think there's a 4:40 and a 5:40 flight. I'd probably book the 4:40. The people on those flights will be the people from your international flight. Customs and immirgration don't take very long at all. The thing that takes the longest is getting your luggage, and I understand that's recently improved as well.

You're too late to catch the water taxi. Flying is your only option.

Thanks Jean - we booked the 5:40 flight on Maya Island Air - they said to be sure you had a minimum of one hour between arrival and departure and I thought maybe I should play it safe! If we get through quickly, we'll see if we can catch the earlier flight.

Thanks again.

You're welcome, we're flying in on February 2, I havne't bought my tickets yet on Tropic.

We'll be in San Pedro until the 18th. Maybe our paths will cross, it's a small town.

Wouldn't that be a hoot - I'll be traveling with my brother and we'll be staying at the Tides - I'll buy you a drink!

Take care.

Sounds like you'll have a great time.

I've only been to the bar at the Tides once, but, Butch, the bartender, is well known and well liked on the island.

Where's the Tides? We're at Banyan Bay Feb 9-16

JeanH Dec 7th, 2007 05:35 PM

The Tides is on the beach, north of town, south of the cut.

We're at Coral Bay, about 1/4-1/2 mile north of Banyan Bay.

Enjoy your stay, Banyan Bay is lovely.

I hear they have good mojitos at their bar/restaurant. Maybe we'll make it down there this visit.

Cdnfolks Dec 9th, 2007 02:32 PM

Have not tried the mojitos - thanks for the suggestion! We seem to spend extra time at BC's for cold beer. Maybe we'll see you there.

JeanH Dec 9th, 2007 04:56 PM

Well, if you hang at BC's, you'll see us for sure.

Usually there for a drink every afternoon/early evening.

Wish I was there now, this freezing rain is getting old real fast.

We don't have any freezing rain, but I agree - I could go for some tilapia at the Blue Water Grill also.

Blue Water Grill makes some wonderful seafood pasta too. It's been three years and I haven't found anything like it since.
