Transportation from Mexico City to Coyocan & ????

My friends, I will be in Mexico City during the week of October 18th. I would like to visit the Kahlo Museum and Ex-Covento del Carmen in San Angel. I figure I need to get to Coyocan first. So my question or help that I need is: 1. Can I take metro or public transportation from Mexico City (Reforma/Zona Rosa) directly to Coyocan? 2. Can I take public transportation from Coyocan to San Angel? I want to spend a full day on the Coyocan/San Angel trip. 3. Any particular highlights while in either place ? Thank you !!!!

Look closely at the Mexico City subway map. there is a subway line that gets you to Coyoacan, although it does not drop you close the historic center where the Casa Azul is. You can start walking and get a cab. have a map.
I have done this 4-5 times. For me it is too far to walk from thqt subway stop into central Coyoacan and the Casa Azul. save time for strolling around Coyoacan around the zocalo and market there, esp. If it is a weekend day.

We took the metro to Viveros and walked. It is not a short walk, as emd noted, but part of it is through the lovely Viveros park, where trees are grown to replace those that die along the streets of Mexico City.

Yes, Viveros is indeed the closer subway station. As noted, the walk is not short (I would allow say around 35-45 min or so, maybe a little less if you are a faster walker), however we found the neighbourhood along the way to be interesting.

Thank you for your responses -- they are truly appreciated. They are very helpful. A long walk to me is anything over 2 hours. So, the "short" walk from Viveros will be fantastic.
