Transportation

Hello!

I'm going to be backpacking between CR to Nicaragua and then on to Belize. I was wondering if anyone has any advice on safe and economical transportation between CR and Belize.

Any advice or stories are appreciated. Thank you!! ( :

Many backpackers use buses because it's a cheap way to travel.

To increase your chances of staying safe, avoid overnight buses. If there's a choice of bus companies, find out the most reputable one.

Here's a website with some bus information for Belize...

Hopefully more experts will chime in, but I'm pretty sure bus is your only option?

We flew from Managua to Belize City, via San Salvador, a couple of months ago. I think it was about US$350.00 a ticket.

Thank you for the tips! I was planning on using the bus system to keep my budget low.

I did look into flying, I just couldn't justify paying $350 a ticket when my flight from Chicago to CR will only be $160. However, if safety is a large concern I will definitely fly. (:

Thanks again!

Within CR, there's a shuttle service called Interbus if you want to look into it.
