Tortuguero Transport

I have a question about Tortuguero and getting there. We will be going by bus/boat to Pachira Lodge. Is there any kind of limit on luggage size or weight with these boats? How about on the mini-buses (Interbus)?
Thanks!

We stayed at the Mawamba Lodge and their requirements were a max of 25 lbs. I would assume it to be the same for other lodges.

Thanks, dfarmer! I've seen that 25 lbs limit mentioned frequently for the plane, is it for the boat, too?

As well as I can remember, yes.

I just checked Mawamba's website and 25 lbs is noted there.

However you may want to check with Pachira.

25 lbs is really enough for a trip to CR. You will be amazed at what you can carry in that amount. Just use a backpack and duffle - remember those rolling bags are pretty heavy.

We also stayed at Mawamba and were told of the 25 lb limit. My bag was certainly on the borderline (I weighed it when I left home), and no one checked the weight when we bordered the boat. Some of the other bags looked even heavier than ours! I think they are pretty forgiving at Mawamba but I wouldn't know for Pachira.

Well, we are back and I have an answer, if anyone is interested. No one weighed the bags for the boat for Pachira. I watched while a bunch of people with bags that clearly weighed more than mine were loaded. In fact, I left quite a few clothes and our hiking boots at home because I was a little worried about the limit. Kinda wish I'd had the boots and a nicer pair of sandals. . .
