Topless in Cancun

After I had booked a week at the Blue Bay Getaway in Cancun, I read that it is a topless resort. This will be a first for my husband and I, and I was wondering if anyone had stayed there and could let me know what to expect as far as the topless goes. It is not something I think I would want to do,and I am hoping most of the women there are not topless, but if so I guess we will get used to it!! I would appreciate any feedback on this resort. Thanks in advance!!!

Although, I have not stayed there, my undersanding and knowledge of Cancun, going topless is not permitted any where in Cancun. However, anywhere in the Riviera Maya, it is. That would include all area outside of Cancun. Now if the Blue Bay should allow don't fret. First of all most are not topless and the few that are, after a couple of days, like you said, you will get used to it and believe or not so will any man going there. Have fun, don't worry.

Supposedly (we are told) topless bathing in Mexico is illegal, however it exists. Topless in Cancun varies from resort to resort. We have stayed at 5 different resorts in Cancun and only one of them had topless bathers in the pool area (Moon Palace). At the beach we have always seen one or two topless bathers no matter where we stayed.

If your resort is an all-adult one, the probability of topless bathers is probably higher than if you are staying at a family-oriented resort. But, it doesn't seem to be widespread so you shouldn't really have much of a problem.

Just as an fyi, topless sunbathing is not as a general rule accepted or allowed in Mexico.
Sometimes people do it anyway. Most of the time no one at the resorts says anything because they are too polite.
I personally do not do it when in Mexico because I know that most Mexican people are offended by public nudity, and I am a guest in their country.
If you must, there are a couple of places where it is encouraged - including "Naked Beach" on Cozumel close to Mezcalito's.
